Day 04 – A picture of your night

Yes, I’m late. And since I wasn’t sure if this meant my night this very night, or my night as in my average night, I went with my actual night since it’s what made me late on my post.

I’ve had a rough week. Feeling like poo, so I spent the night in my bed, watching CSI NY. I’m trying to get to the part where Danny and Lindsay hook up–not there, yet, but there’s some fun flirting going on. (Yeah, my life is kinda sad, haha!) On another note, you’ll notice my poor tv is on boxes. Those are my last boxes to unpack, but I don’t have a tv stand for the tv in my room. At the other house, I had the TV on the dresser, but here where the cable hookup is there’s no room for the dresser to fit. Which is okay, because I don’t have bookshelves for those 6 boxes of books. Methinks I need to make a trip to Ikea.

Challenge of Doom–The Third Day

Props to Christopher who inspired today’s title.

Day 03 – A picture of the cast from your favorite show

I know, I know… you all thought I was gonna post a pic of Jerseylicious or one of the CSIs. I almost thought about CSI Vegas, but I’m sure I couldn’t find a pic with Grissom, Warrick, AND Langston. So, I went with The Big Bang Theory.

As I’ve state before, I have major geek-envy. Smart, funny, great cast, BBT even has a physicist on staff to make sure the smart stuff they’re saying makes sense. I love all of the characters. Leonard is adorkable, and who doesn’t remember David from Roseanne? Having Sarah Gilbert as a love interest for Leonard was brilliant, too. Raj and Harold’s bromance is hilarious, and I do a spot on impression of Howard’s mother. I have a HUGE crush on Sheldon–I’d sing soft kitty with him any day. Love Penny–she’s Sheldon’s perfect opposite and her “real person” dynamic provides a fun element to the group. Plus, I really liked 8 Simple Rules (*tear* RIP John Ritter). And this season, Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik) is a fantastic addition. Her and Penny as “besties”–so much fun. Love all of it.

Photo Challenge–Day 2

Day 02 – A picture of you and the person you have been closest with the longest:

Trace and I when we were babies

So I could have gone with a sibling here, but for as much as I love my sibs, we don’t live in the same state and haven’t for a very long time. I think if so much life hadn’t happened one of them would have easily been in this picture since there was a “longest” directive, but the winner in this post goes to my bestest friend, Trace. We met in February of 1996, became “more than friends” in April that same year, and got married in December 1997. We were 19 and 20 when we met, and we talk often of how we grew up together, because, let’s face it at 19-20 years old you know exactly squat about life. I consider myself very fortunate to have grown up with the man I love, and someone who will be ridiculously stupid with me and not bat an eye. He knows what I’m thinking by just watching my eye twitch or how my posture changes, knows the perfect thing to say in every situation, and understands every one of my impossible idiosyncrasies. Yeah, I like the guy (plus, he’s REALLY attractive).

—————————————————-

On a semi-related note: I had an ephiphany today. It was a huge one. HUGE. Someday I’ll tell you what it was, but it was life altering, and it happened all because I’ve made a commitment to write daily. I bought a book recently, Writing Down the Bones by Natalie Goldberg–Great book, really really good, and I guess it’s a long time staple for creative writers. I’ve been reading it and going through some of the exercises. Combined with getting the words flowing and other stuff, I’ve been getting ideas for a much bigger project. I was sitting at a cafe on the beach today writing and brainstorming, and I got a revelation so big I had tears streaming down my face. Unreal. Sorry to be so enigmatic, but it was awesome. I just had to share even a little bit–I had an epiphany.

Photo Challenge Day 1

Oh, this was harder than I’d thought it was going to be, and it’s only the first day!

Me on the beach today

Ten things about me…

1. I HATE taking pictures of myself. =) I am horribly UNphotogenic. People argue with me about this all the time, but they don’t realize that it takes me about 10 tries to get at least 1 semi-acceptable picture. Example shown here. ^^^ I look much better in person. Trust me.
2. I am addicted to buying stationary and yarn. I have more of both than I will ever use, and I guarantee that won’t stop me from buying more. I even ask for them as gifts. Idk.
3. I love showtunes. From Rodgers and Hammerstein to Andrew Lloyd Webber and well, just any of it… love it. If my life were made into a movie, I’d want it to be a musical (but not a crappy one like that rendition of Phantom of the Opera with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum, cuz that movie sucked).
4. I really want to learn to play an instrument where I can sit around with other musicians and just jam. French horn doesn’t translate well like that.
5. My siblings and I have the most twisted sense of humor ever. We laugh about crazy awful memories, and honestly, they’re hilarious. Dead cats in our motor, 3rd degree burns that show bone, stitches in eyelids, they’re all running jokes in our family, and it’s flippin’ funny. It’s probably a defense mechanism, but we laugh at the hard stuff so it’s easier to deal with. My sense of humor has very much remained that way, and most people outside of my family don’t get it. -shrug- Their loss. πŸ˜‰
6. As toxic as Roswell, NM (my hometown) is, I would move back just to be near my family and so my kids could grow up with a big family around just like I did. Even though things weren’t always easy, that support system meant the world to me.
7. I’ve wanted to be a chef for about 10 years. I’ve registered at 2 different programs over the years (paid deposits, gotten uniforms), but stuff has fallen through. Just wasn’t meant to be, I suppose.
8. Until about 2 years ago, my hair was straight–really really straight. Now it’s curly. Don’t know how or why it happened, but it’s all frizzy and curly.
9. I’ve had 4 people in my life commit suicide. (OH, DEBBIE DOWNER! We’re being revealing here, and I’m running out of stuff to say.)
10. My husband is an amazing musician. My son is a budding amazing musician who will probably surpass his father by the time he’s 16. My daughter is a ridiculously good singer and a crazy good ear for her tender age of 10. I dabble in singing–I can’t wait to have my own band. I also might need to have another kid or two.

Positive productivity…

I’m conducting an experiment…
I took a little time to reflect after my “crybaby post”…
I’m going to purposefully and consciously spend my time on positive, productive things. I’m walking away from facebook for a bit, because really, it depresses me. Idk why, it just does, and I’m feeling rather depressed as of late. Since my little basket of “productive things” includes writing, blogging is definitely going to be an appetizer to that. I’ll be doing some personal stuff as well as exercises and initial work for a much larger project, but this here blog will be a warm up, and let’s face it–I just really love my little corner of the interwebs.

I keep seeing people talk “31 day photo challenge”. I’m thinking I may do this… could be fun, especially if I can get my other bloggy friends on board (Chris, Sarah, this means you). Here’s the list:

Introspection coupled with my fear of posting pictures of myself… could be fun. Even if no one ever looks at it all, it could be rather therapeutic. Yeah, I just convinced myself. I’m in.
